Julie Barker, former Stud Groom at the Burton Hunt Kennels, whose livelihood and home depended on the continuation of hunting with hounds, BJ, a lifelong supporter of hunting, and Robert and Karen Howarth (Robert was Huntsman of the Holderness Hunt at the time) cycled from Lands End to John O'Groats in 16 days to raise funds for the Hunt Staff Benefit Society and the Union of Country Sports Workers. Both organisations are dedicated to the welfare and future of Hunt Staff; a future that in today's political situation is increasingly under pressure and is a constant worry to all employed in hunt service and their families. 957 miles were cycled resulting in a donation of over £7,000 being given to the Society from sponsorship money raised by the cyclists.
