On Pest Control

“In pest control, welfare is treated as a secondary priority over efficiency in many cases…it appears, across the board, that ‘pest control’ has been the justification for some of the worst excesses in animal welfare.”
Dr Nick Fox

About This Hunt

Hunt Country The country, which covers an area of some 35 miles by 25 miles, lies in Norfolk. The Wednesday and Saturday countries, around Dereham, are heavy going, with much plough, and many ditches, some Hunt Jumps. The Monday country, around King's Lynn, Narborough and Swaffham, is much lighter going, with more grass, forest and some timber hunt jumps. Best centres: East Dereham, Swaffham, Fakenham and King's Lynn.

Hunt History The Hunt dates from 1534; the country as now constituted has existed since 1892. That part of the country adjacent to Downham Market was lent to Mr. A.E.H. Birch in 1896. His pack, formerly the Downham Harriers, and later the Downham Foxhounds, was disbanded in 1934 when the country reverted to the West Norfolk.

Secretary:  Mrs.T. Bullard.
