About This Hunt

Hunt Country The country, which lies in Devon and Somerset, extends about 18 miles from Bampton in the east to South Molton in the west (both exclusive), and from Knowstone and Oakford in the south to Winsford in the north - about 12 miles. Best centres: Dulverton and Winsford.

Hunt History The Dulverton Hunt dates from 1875, when Lord Portsmouth handed over the country which he had hunted in Spring and Autumn to Mr. J. Froude Bellew, Squire of Anstey. Mr. Froude Bellew hunted the country until 1884, when he sold his pack of bitches to Lord Guilford. The country remained vacant for one season after Mr. Froud Bellew's resignation. In seasons 1905-07, no Master coming forward, the country was hunted by neighbouring packs. In 1907-08 the Exmoor Foxhounds hunted part of the country one day a fortnight. The Hunt changed its name from the Dulverton (East) to the Dulverton Farmers in May 2001.
