About This Hunt

Hunt Country The country which is in Yorkshire lies east of the A19 between Thirsk and Stokesley, and consists mainly of moorland and forestry. The terrain is rough with some hunt jumps. Adjacent Hunts are the Cleveland, Farndale, Hurworth, York and Ainsty (North) and the Sinnington.

Hunt History The Hunt traces its origin to a very early period; it is said to be the oldest pack of foxhounds in England; until 1888 it was entirely trencher fed. The first point-to-point was held in 1994.
