Hunt History There is good reason to believe that these hounds were originally started about the end of the 17th century at Barlow, to hunt fox and hare - as they have done until Major W. Wilson decided to hunt fox only in 1907. Until 1851 they were managed and hunted by yeoman farmers. The hounds were trencher fed until William Wilson took over the Mastership and rebuilt the kennels in 1878. Miss Elsie Wilson died in 1988 leaving the hounds and her estate to a Committee. Secretary: Mrs.C. Excel-Thomas. This listing is in the following categories: Derbyshire / Nottinghamshire / Yorkshire / |
