On Interpretation and Enforcement
“We observe at the outset that the experience of this case has led us to the conclusion that the relevant law is far from simple to interpret or to apply; it seems to us that any given set of facts may be susceptible to differing interpretations. The result is an unhappy state of affairs which leaves all those involved in a position of uncertainty.”
Judge Graham Cottle
Tony Wright Appeal judgment, Exeter Crown Court – 30th November 2007

Open Hound Shows - England And Wales 2007

The first main show held at Ardingly in Sussex for the South of England Hound show. President of the show, Nicholas Soames, makes all welcome and this year there were a far greater number of packs showing with better quality. The crowd were so delighted when a local pack deservedly won the Bitch Championship and it was a great win for East Kent Sudden 03. Seventeen packs had entered and the Doghound judges were Ian Mckie MFH (College Valley/Northumberland) and Jacky Thomas MFH (Curre and Llangibby). The Crawley & Horsham won the local class with Garston 06 beating East Kent Saltwood 04 with Chiddingfold, Leconfield & Cowdray Combat 06 3rd and Old Surrey Burstow & West Kent Football in reserve.

West Of England – Wet and all!

Open Hound Shows - England And Wales 2007

Usually there is a wonderful warm welcome and a happy atmosphere at the West of England Hound show held at Honiton. This year the rain tried its best to spoil everything but only dampened the spirits a little and ruined a few pairs of shoes, turning the rings more like ploughed fields. However the show went on and some wonderful hounds were seen. The Doghounds were judged by Captain Ian Farquhar MFH (The Duke of Beaufort’s) and Dominic Jones MFH (Cotswold) in terrible conditions with non stop rain most of the time. The Portman had the quality Gordon by Heythrop Governor 01 who won the local Unentered Doghound class with the Blackmore & Sparkford Vale 2nd with Goodman, Portman Brecon was 3rd, Seavington Pagan 4th.
